Frequently Asked Questions
Suite (Reef, Beach Access) FAQs
What does the Reef Suite at InterContinental Presidente Cozumel Resort Spa look out on?
This suite has beach views and direct beach access. The resort sits on a private beach on Cozumel's southwest shore, directly in front of the Arrecifes de Cozumel marine park. The beach runs nearly 1,000 feet, and the hotel advertises its beach and waters as sargassum-free.
How is the bed set up and how many people does the suite sleep?
The suite is a one-bedroom with 1 king bed dressed in Egyptian cotton sheets, a down comforter and hypo-allergenic premium bedding. It sleeps 2 guests in 969 sq. ft. Blackout drapes and air conditioning help with sleep. A rollaway/extra bed or a crib can be requested at no charge.
What is the bathroom like, and is it suitable for guests with mobility needs?
The private bathroom has a rainfall showerhead and a heated floor. Bathrobes, slippers, designer toiletries, a hair dryer and towels are provided. For accessibility there is a grab bar in the shower, a hand-held showerhead and a height-adjustable showerhead. The hotel also has ramp access to its restaurant, bar and leisure facilities.
What is included with a stay in the Reef Suite?
In the room you get complimentary Wi-Fi, bottled water, a coffee/tea maker, a minibar and a flat-screen TV with cable, premium channels and pay movies. Turndown service is part of the stay. This is not an all-inclusive rate: the daily buffet breakfast (about USD 28 for adults and USD 14 for children) is extra. Cabana and lounge upgrades at the pool and beach are also paid.
Is the Reef Suite a good choice for couples, and can families stay too?
With one king bed and 969 sq. ft., it suits couples well. The resort also has a quiet, adult-focused tranquility pool and Ikal Spa, which offers couples massage and a Temazcal ceremony. The hotel welcomes guests of all ages. The suite sleeps two, but a free crib or rollaway can be requested. The Planet Trekkers kids' club (ages 5–12, 9 AM–5 PM) is free of charge, and in-room childcare carries a surcharge.
What dining and pool options are on site?
The resort has four restaurants and two bars. El Caribeño is an open-air beachside restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 AM to 11 PM. Le Cap Beach Club serves Mediterranean food from 11 AM. Alfredo Di Roma Trattoria (Italian) and Faro Blanco (international) are dinner-only and require reservations. There are two outdoor pools, one with an infinity-style edge and ocean views, plus a children's pool.
Can I dive or snorkel straight from the resort?
Yes. The resort fronts the Cozumel Reefs marine park, and its on-site dive center, Scuba Du, offers snorkel gear, kayaks, jet skis and snorkeling and fishing tours. A PADI dive center has operated here since 1992 from the private dock. Visibility is best from December to April, and February to June is cited as the top window for diving.
How do I get to the resort from the airport?
Cozumel is an island reached by air or by passenger ferry from Playa del Carmen, which takes about 35–45 minutes. From Cozumel International Airport the resort is roughly a 15-minute drive. There is no hotel airport shuttle, so guests take a taxi, which runs about $29–35. Rideshare apps don't operate on the island. Downtown San Miguel is about 7 minutes away.
What should I know about check-in and house rules?
Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is at noon. The main guest must be at least 18 and show a photo ID and credit card at check-in. The hotel is smoke-free, with a designated outdoor smoking area. It is pet-friendly for a fee, but pets are not allowed on the beach or at the pools. Spa treatments, cabanas and pool beds are charged separately.
